A Church, coming together in the way of Jesus Christ
We envision a church united by the common call of Jesus Christ, who invites us all to re-form our lives on His terms of love and humble sacrifice (Matthew 4:18-22; 1 John 4:7-12). Living on Christ’s terms, His followers’ lives stand in contrast the world around them – socially, politically, economically, and eternally, they invest their faith wholly in Him (John 8:1-11; 18:36; Matthew 18:24-27; Luke 16:13). However, neither contrast nor seeking out hardships motivates the Church, but only the deep joy of finding new life, new family, and new hope in Jesus Christ (Mark 10:28-30; John 6:47-51)
Just as we stumble along after Jesus, we know that the church is already being lived – as evidenced by many little stories of faithfulness throughout history to the present. As we meet people along the journey to Mennonite World Conference Assembly in Asunción, Paraguay, we will prayerfully listen and watch for God’s Spirit at work in God’s people. As we share stories of joy and sorrow, we pray that the Body of Christ will be encouraged in every way, as we all – together – seek to follow Christ.
Goals
To consider ways of living the life-changing call of Jesus Christ in the context of a global church
To explore what it means to be part of an intimate community - the Body of Christ - across many barriers, including political borders, culture, language, and geography
To strengthen relationships within the global church through sharing time and stories
To support each other financially by raising $30,000 to help Anabaptist young adults from the global south attend the Assembly and Global Youth Summit in Asunción
To develop senses to more acutely perceive God’s presence, accompanied by minds and bodies prepared to respond accordingly
