Support conversation within the global Mennonite church

Your donations to AMIGOS will enable young adults to attend the Global Youth Summit and Mennonite World Conference Assembly in Asunción, Paraguay, July 2009.

At the last assembly in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 2003, AMIGOS set a goal of raising $105,000 to provide grants to help young adults come to Asunción. Over the past 5 years, through initiatives like BikeMovement USA as well as independent donations, AMIGOS has raised $75,000 of that total.

As we make our way in time and place toward the assembly, we’re setting our sights on the original AMIGOS goal: we want to help the church raise the remaining $30,000.

To reach this goal, we need to raise approximately $4.30/mile for the 7,000 mile journey.

You can make a financial contribution in two ways:

  1. Write a check out to Mennonite World Conference (memo: AMIGOS - BikeMovement 2009) and mail your donations to: Mennonite World Conference
    2529 Willow Avenue
    Clovis CA 93612
    USA

or, for those living in Canada:

    Mennonite World Conference
    50 Kent Ave.
    Kitchener ON N2G3R1
    Canada
  2. Donate online by credit card. Make sure to designate “AMIGOS - BikeMovement 2009″ when placing your online donation.

Help Jon & Lars go to the assembly and youth summit

We are working to cover our own expenses related to bicycling to and attending the Global Youth Summit & MWC assembly, but we surely do appreciate contributions, as well. Any funds above our needs will be given directly to the MWC AMIGOS fund.

Donations can be made through Virginia Mennonite Missions. Mail checks made out to VMM attn: bikemovement to

I’ve been thinking a lot about you guys this week — some of your blog entries are likely coming into my sermon on Isaiah 40 this week at CMCL.

I’m especially touched by your choosing to see the hand of God in small (and big) blessings that could just as easily be chalked up to happenstance. Seems like the right way to be in the world.

Any news to share on how the fundraising is going?

    Peace,

What a great idea you guys had, 8500 miles on bikes!! I hope you arrive safely in Asuncion in good time for the Youth Summit.
    I will make a donation.
Jonathan, I was your pastor at CMCL for 81/2 months in 2000. I don’t expect you to remember, but I certainly remember your family.
    The best to you!
    Ann
